It’s true that fruit and fiber are good for our bodies, but in this course, discover why spiritual fruit and gospel fiber are necessary for the soul! Dr. Joey Dodson discusses walking by the Spirit according to the context of Paul’s letter to the Galatians. He will lead you on an exploration of the depth and breadth of the freedom we have in Christ and what we have access to as a result of that freedom. You will examine the context of the fruit of the Spirit passage and discover how this context sheds new light on the beloved text. Finally, Dr. Dodson will help you delve into the passages on the works of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit and explore how the fruit of the Spirit is meant to be lived out within the body of Christ.

  • Explain the context for the fruit of the Spirit passage in Galatians and examine the fruit of the Spirit in light of its immediate literary context.
  • Describe the freedom we have in Christ and how that relates to the fruit of the Spirit.
  • Explain what it means to walk according to the Spirit and identify the results of doing so.
  • Describe the war between the Spirit and the flesh.
  • Describe briefly each fruit of the Spirit.
  • Explain how believers experience the fruit of the Spirit in their lives.
  • Explain the corporate nature of the fruit of the Spirit.
  • Very well done. Concise but complete in explaining the verses and how Paul’s phrasing worked to unify the information.

  • Thank you for setting out clearly Life by the Spirit. It really gave me a sense of responsibility for the choices that I make as a Christian and how I can change myself and help and support others. I like the question 'Do I have anyone at the bottom of my cross?' I had not considered this before and will certainly think about how I first can share this course with church members and maybe we can have this as a discussion point for us as a Church to act on so that we can be more in unity as the Body of Christ. I liked in Lesson 1, that we have freedom from, but also freedom to. Thank you so much for this course, I will not be keeping this to myself!!

  • Very simple no nonsense course, based purely upon the Bible, presented in a way which is easily understandable, but equally easily practicable. I like the idea that the fruit of the Spirit has a corporate dimension to it. Really enjoyed engaging with this course.

  • This lecture has reaffirmed what I knew from previous research I have done in the past. But mostly I have gleaned a whole new concept of the fruit of the Spirit as it applies to the fact that God's will for us is to be a community of love for one another so that no one is left behind. That we are reconciled back to being one with the Holy Trinity. It has helped me see the significance of the Groom (Jesus) and the Bride (the Church) coming together as one.

  • Amazing. At first in thought "what?" He wasn't "spiritual" like many teachers, he used real life illustrations, "JUST LIKE JESUS DID". He did an amazing job of taking "regular things" and explaining the Fruits of the Spirit in a simple, very understandable way.
