Bob Pyne said: “The best argument for Christianity is the resurrection of Christ. If it happened, then Christianity is true. Then anything which competes against Christianity is false. If the resurrection didn’t happen, then Christianity is false, and anything competing against Christianity as a truth claim may well be true.” Why would Bob Pyne make such a claim?

Christianity is the only religion that says their Savior was raised from the dead. If that isn’t a fact, then Christianity is worthless, life has no meaning, we are living in our sin, and we will die. If the resurrection did happen, no other religion or belief system is true.

Maybe he’s not a true believer the Bible also says there will be many that cry Lord Lord an He’ll say depart from me I know you not

The resurrection in only found in Christianity. If the resurrection didn’t happen then we are still in our sins and we have no hope. The resurrection gives us hope of everlasting life.

No other religion proposes that someone beat death, that someone was raised from the dead, that someone atoned for our sins in the crucifixion.

    • #95327496

No other religion has the “argument” of their leader resurrecting from the dead. All other religions know of when their leader died or know the tomb in which their leader lies. The tomb of Jesus is EMPTY. That truth is the most important piece of Christianity because if Christ had not risen from the dead, we are still in our sin. His resurrection conquered the grave and sin. By His LIFE we are healed from the sin we face and our acceptance of that gift gives us eternal life with Him. If not for Christ’s resurrection, we would still be working for our own salvation, hoping that our good is outweighing our bad, just as the many “religious” people in our world do today. That is not hope.

He would make this claim because Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection is the foundation of Christianity in that if those things did not happen, we truly would not have a foundation to build our faith on.

All of the supposed prophets from the competing religions are dead. If, Jesus also died what would be the difference. His claims to the deity would have been false. Jesus claims to save mankind would have been impossible because a dead man cannot save anyone. His gospel would be meaningless.

Because Bob knows it is true, his faith is strong and the Holy Spirit has lead him to this truth and he has confidence in claiming this,

    • #95317867

Bob Pyne would make such a claim because the foundation of Christianity is that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, He Died on the cross for our sins, and then three days later ROSE FROM THE DEAD. That is the claim Pyne made because it is what Christianity is at the core.

No religion in the world has a clear answer to life after death. However, Jesus Christ conquered the death and proved himself to live again three days after his own death.

I believe Pyne made this claim to show how central the idea of the resurrection is to Christianity. The resurrection of Christ has to happen or the basis of Christianity is gone. Making such a statement draws attention to the fact that Jesus was who He said he was. The claim was made and it was fulfilled.

Such a profound statement. Just like the birth of Christ. Why do people celebrate Christmas if they don’t believe in God. Christ is the whole reason for CHRISTmas. People are so skeptical. Jesus had been performing miracles and wonders right before their eyes but some still didn’t believe. God had to do something drastic to get them to finally believe. Bob Pyne may have made that statement because there can only be 1 Truth. You can’t believe in both. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the life. Choose this day whom you will serve.
      Joshua 24:14-15
14 “Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

I think that Bob Pyne made this claim because it is the basis for Christianity (agreeing with Tiffany below). This is the defining moment when we consider the C.S. Lewis quote where he referenced that Jesus was either a liar, lunatic or Lord. The resurrection clarified Him as Lord.

    • #95298418

I believe he would make this claim because the whole idea of the resurrection is the basis of Christianity. If Jesus was who he said he was, then He was truly God and the resurrection would be evidence of that. If Jesus claimed to be God but the resurrection did not happen, then the prophecies would not be true and the whole framework of Christianity would be false. This claim is bold because it carries the whole truth about Christ being Lord.

Christianity faith without birth, death and resurrection is vain that’s why Bop Pyne would make such claim, Our faith as Christians hinges on three major things birth, death and resurrection of Jesus christ as apostle Paul said in 1cor 15:13-14,”For if there is no resurrection of the dead then, christ hasn’t been raised either, And if christ hasn’t been raised then all of preaching is useless, our faith is useless.
Also we have many prophecies scriptures foretold about the coming of messiah Genesis 3,Isaiah 9,10,53,Deuteron 18:15 all these scriptures testifies the truth of Christianity.

    • #95297677

Bob Pyne can make such a claim because this what the belief in the Christian faith hinges on. 1 Corinthians 15: 12-19 says that if Christ has not been raised from the dead then our faith is useless and we are still in our sins. If this were true, then we would have no Christian faith, but since it is not true, this one single event proves God’s promises.

    • #95293351

He can make such a claim because the whole of the Christian faith hinges on the resurrection. Without it, our salvation isn’t possible (because we can’t on our own) and the events that come after the resurrection do not come.

    • #95292036

I believe Bob Pyne could make such a claim because if the resurrection didn’t happen than Christianity would be false and have come to nothing. Everything in Christianity was based on Jesus death and resurrection. Without the resurrection Everything includes Jesus own word and claim would have been a lie.

    • #95290297

I think that Bob Pyne would make such claims because he has accepted and believe historical evidence of the claims found in the gospel of John and in other books in the Bible and is a believer in the truth of the Christian faith.

Christ conquered death, and His story is aligned completely with the entirety of God’s Word. If this did not occur, this would not be true, and thus Yeshua could not be the Messiah. But He did, and He is.

    • #95279733

Because everything is based on Christ’s resurrection.

    • #95278241

Going back to Genesis 3, God promised that there would be one who would crush the head of the serpent, but the serpent would bruise his head. Micha prophesied that he would be born in Bethlehem; Isiah said he would be born of a virgin, and Isaiah said he would die for sinners. David also said God would not abandon his soul in hell nor allow him to see corruption. Thousands of years of prophecy was fulfilled in one Jesus of Nazareth.

If the resurrection is true, it puts an end to any questions about Old Testament scriptures and what skeptics would say going forward.

    • #95277873

      It is true.
