In Acts, Jesus Christ is recorded as saying: “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (1:8). According to Dr. Buzzell, how does this verse provide an outline for the book of Acts?

Luke uses this verse to show how the Gospel went out to the world just as Jesus said it would, by writing about the expansion of evangelism in that exact way.

It gives the outline for the whole book of Acts.
In Chapters 1-7 the church starts in Jerusalem.
In Chapters 8-12 the church spreads into Judea and Samaria.
In Chapters 12-28 we see the church spreading through the known world.

Acts continues with Pentecost when the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit. They began to preach through out Jerusalem. With the coming of Saul and the persecution, the disciples fled to the surrounding countryside. With the conversion of Saul, the gospel of Jesus went to the ends of the earth and continues to be preached to this day.

According to Dr. Buzzell, Acts 1:8, provides an outline for the book of Acts. Dr. Buzzell believed that Jesus’ ministry strategy has a three part movement. First of all, Dr. Buzzell wrote that the apostles would be Jesus’ witnesses. Secondly, they would go to Judea and Samaria. Finally, Christ followers would reach the ends of the Earth. In summary, God’s word would be spready first locally and then reach further out, until ultimately getting to the ends of the earth.

The book of Acts is an ongoing story of the work of Jesus Christ and the outline in verse 8 chapter 1 not only illustrates how Jesus intended the early church to spread, but it also outlines how we are to witness for Christ in the church, then the community, and then to the further reaches. The key is that the church in Jerusalem became strong, then moved outward to the surrounding area’s, then into the world.

It demonstrated how the transforming power of Christ spread. It started small and grew outward, only through the work of the Holy Spirit.

      Il Vangelo si sarebbe diffuso
      prima a Gerusalemme, (Atti 1-7)
poi in Giudea e Samaria, (Atti 8-12)
      e poi nel resto del mondo.(Atti 13-28)

According to Dr. Buzzell, this verse provided a template for the apostles to follow to grow the church to ends of the earth. The book of Acts provided 3 movements of Jesus’s Great Commission to spread the gospel first to Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

It provides an outline for the book of Acts because it was Jesus’ strategy to change the world. By going to these 3 regions they were sure to witness to all people groups; Jews and Gentiles.

This verse provides an outline for the book of Acts because it shows how the gospel was able to spread form Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the end of the earth. The planting of the church is documented in the first 7 books of the book of Acts. The spread to Samaria and Judea is documented in Acts 8-12 and then Acts 13 to 28 documents the spread of the gospel to the rest of the world.

Acts 1:8 provides an outline for the book of Acts. It provides an outline for the book of Acts because Jesus had gone into heaven and He told His disciples that He will send a comforter until He comes again. The Holy Spirit came into the hearts of those who received the power of the Holy Spirit as a witness to Him in Jerusalem. After the Holy Spirit came like tongues of fire, this was the beginning of the first church. This movement also began to spread the gospel around the world with power from on high.

This powerful movement provided an outline for the book of Acts and helped Jesus’s disciples to become witnesses and Christians.

The first two chapters describe, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you”. The next seven chapters describe being witnesses in Jerusalem. The next five chapters describe being witnesses in all Judea and Samaria. And the final 16 chapters describe being witnesses to the end of the earth.

It provides an outline for the book of Acts because it gives them a 3 part strategy for passing on the word of God. They would begin in Jerusalem, then move to Judea and Samaria, and then their word will cover the world. He began by starting a church in Jerusalem where others begin passing the word of God further.

This provides an outline for the book of Acts, because the church was started in Jerusalem. Then, churches expanded to Judea and Samaria. And finally, churches were formed all throughout the Mediterranean.
