J. P. Moreland said, “When God wants to get our attention, He typically doesn’t shout at us; He does that occasionally, but typically He tries to do gentle reminders that He’s there—that give us a chance to resist them if we want to or to follow them. He very often then will use pain; He’ll use circumstances in our lives to awaken us to His presence and to awaken us to questions that will lead us to Him.” Do you agree with this? Why or why not? How has God obtained your attention?

Often I have seen and felt God’s corrective actions throughout my life. Much of the time I wanted to do right but felt I had no other course of action opened to me. Now I understand that God has allowed me to control my own life, making my own mistakes. I see where I could have avoided much pain and sorrow by walking in the footsteps of Christ.

Yes, God does begin gently to get our attention and guide us in the correct direction, but if we continue to go our own way, He will step in and the consequences can be unpleasant. I have experienced much grace and mercy, and I have also experienced unpleasant consequences. All the times of correction have been out of love by God.

I do agree. God is our father and sometimes with the distractions of life it is hard to hear voice. So he finds other ways to get our attention. Through pain and heartache

I have been a believer all my life. Some of the time I have been very close to the Lord and at other times I have fallen away. He has and continues to used circumstances in my life to draw me and keep me close to Him. As I get older, I understand that He wants ALL of me ALL of the time, and will use events in my life to keep me.

I do agree with this. God uses everything, good and bad, for our good and for His glory. Romans 8:28 says “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

God has very in frequently used a loud voice to communicate with me. However as seen his fingerprints all over my life through circumstances that only he could control. I am glad that he is alive and working in what I am doing.
