Saul was rejected by God because of his disobedience. He did not do things as God commanded him to do. What God really wanted from the person who served Him as king was a relationship of trust and obedience, a loving heart, a surrendered will and an attitude of willing to please Him in everything.
He was not a man that followed God’s instruction. He was not a man that could ve considered Gos’s man. He acted on his own desires.
Samuel was rejected as king of Israel because he prioritized service over obedience. God seeks obedience and faith in the relationship with Him.

Saul, like many of us put his own needs and wants above the plans that God had for him. It is for that reason he was rejected as king of Israel.
If obeying and listening is the priority according to this Scripture, then Saul was rejected because of him putting his own agenda above listening to God’s will for him. God was not concerned with the perfunctory sacrifices of animals but of the following that comes from being in close relationship and obedience with him.
Saul was rejected by God because Saul rejected God’s word, he didn’t do what God asked of him. He did things to look like a follower, but he did them with the wrong heart motivation. He was to do them because of his love for God.
