Disciples were Jesus followers. What sets us apart from other religious Disciples is Jesus
Disciple is simply a follower of a teacher or leader. The difference between disciples of Jesus and disciples of religious leaders is that disciples of Jesus will always be disciples of Jesus where are disciples of other religious leaders often have a goal of becoming leaders themselves.
A disciple is someone who is being trained by a master. He is a student, a pupil, a trainee.
The differences between a disciple of Jesus-Christ and a disciple of some other religious leader is that a disciple of Jesus Christ always remain a disciple of Jesus all his life while the disciple of some other religious leader is seeking to become a leader in the future, a kind of guru or rabbi.
A disciple is someone who learns the way someone else lives their lives. They choose someone, or something, because they are drawn to them or that something. A disciple of Jesus Christ is someone who wants live to honor Him by the way he lives. They don’t want to be Jesus, they want to keep learning from Him and showing others Who He is. This is because we could never BE Christ. He is God. A disciple of another religious leader is drawn to that leader and the ceremonies and traditions they practice. The disciple tends to want to learn to become that religious leader at some point. They are a mentor of the disciple until the disciple learns enough to lead on his own.
A disciple is one who follows the teachings of their master- a disciple of Jesus Christ would be a follower of Jesus and His teachings. If we accept Jesus as our Master, our Lord and Savior- then we are accepting his Truths, thus a disciple will apply those same teachings and principles to his/her own lives. When we choose Jesus, we are following the Living God. We just tapped into the power that will save us from hell. We just chose the only One who can change our hearts, and thus change our lives forever.
