Leadership is about taking people where they need to go. Management is about overseeing people do specific things while at a specific place.
Leadership is being a role model and management is maintaining, staying leveled.
Leaders take you some place new and managers manage when you get there
Leadership takes you on a journey from here to there; vision with a destination. Management helps you accomplish things on the way.
Leadership takes people to new places, management helps folks accomplish the tasks they are responsible for in those places.
Management helps us do what we are supposed to do while in that place while leadership has a vision and takes us somewhere new.
Leadership is about people and getting them to an intended destination.
“Leadership takes us someplace. Management helps us do what we’re supposed to do while we are in that place.” Leadership is about forward movement. About pursuing a purpose.
Leadership is the act of taking people to a new place or height, whereas management is making sure things are functioning properly to maybe only maintain the status quo.
In the words of Dr. Buzzell, “leadership takes us someplace. Management helps us do what we’re supposed to do while we are in that place.”
Leadership is taking people somewhere that they may not want to particularly go. Management is more about controlling a situation.
Leadership takes us somewhere. Management helps us do what’s expected.
Leadership is about motivating people to comprehend and believe in the vision for themselves personally and as a group and to work with you on achieving a goal. While management is more about administering work or a vision ensuring the day-to-day activities are getting done as they should.
Management tells you where to go. Leaders help take you there.
Leadership is active in the work while management just supervises
management helps people do what they do where they are, leadership takes people to new places.
[Good] Leadership takes people to a destination that is better than where they were that they could not have reached on their own. I appreciate Dr. Sid’s description of management as making sure we’re doing what we’re supposed to be doing where we are.
Management maintains the current situation and leadership evolves to the next level.
Leadership takes you to a new and beter destination, management helps in the effectiveness and execution.
Leadership makes people better and takes them to a better place. Management just helps people where they currently are and it doesn’t incite movement.
Leadership takes people somewhere, Management helps them do (execute) what needs to be done.
Leadership takes you places and management directs you when you get there.
Leaders equip others with the abilities and opportunities to thrive towards objectives, most effectively by being in the trenches with those they lead. Managing is maintaining.
Leadership takes you where you want to go, while management manage when you get there.
Leaders move people from one place to a place people have never been. Management helps people do what they are supposed to do while in a certain place.
Leadership takes you somewhere, while management maintains what you are.
The difference between Leadership and management is their action. Leadership is leading the team from where they are to where they should be with the desire to be better than they were before. Management is about doing what needs to be done and accomplished.
Leadership is both managing and leading with shared sets of goals and an end result in mind. Management by itself is readying for known tasks and seeing the project through the delegation of oneself or others.
Leadership means taking people to another place in their development and move forward. Management is just maintaining or carrying out duties, not leading to make progress and foster growth, taking people to places that you’ve already been.
A leader builds up hearts and minds in order to disciple those under him/her; a manager simply gets a job done.
Leadership is more engaged on a personal level of service than management which is more just oversight and instruction.
Leadership brings us to new places and guides us to somewhere we want to be. It is more innovative and growing. Management is watching over the tasks that we need to do right where we are.
Management controls, puts rules in place and makes sure they are followed. A leader empowers and inspires his/her followers and listens to them. A leader gathers information from the team. A manager controls the team.
Leadership takes us someplace while management helps us do what we are supposed to be doing while we are in that place.
Leadership guide others to do the right thing and to the right place. Management is dealing with or controlling things or people.
I think… leadership is taking people where they were not previously and management is overseeing tasks
I think that leaders know how to lead by managing the ones around them. Management is just a group of people together that think they know what they’re doing. Trying to bring leader ship skills into the fold.
Leadership sometimes doesn’t include taking over a situation or circumstance, management a lot of times is controlling a situation and micro-managing
Leadership requires more vision and care. Management feels more day to day.
Management is oversight, leadership is taking people somewhere.
Leadership is actively moving towards a goal or destination that one must be able to adapt as variables change to keep moving forward. Leadership directs management in being able to oversee the work to be done to reach the goals set in place. In order to do both effectively there must be open communication between the two channels. Management follows leadership’s directives and oversees the community of people to guide them in the tasks needed to get the work done.
Management helps people to do what they are supposed to do where they’re at. Leadership brings people some place else.
The lesson stated that leadership takes us some place and management helps us do what we need to do while we are in that place.
Leadership is showing by example.
Management is overseeing others.
Leaders lead people to something/somewhere where we ain’t and management oversees what people are doing.
leaders lead a person or group into the unknown, managers manage what they know.
Leadership is the ability to gain the trust of one or a group and believing the leader can be effective in bringing positive change.
Management is organizing and facilitating to complete a job.

“Leadership takes us someplace. Management helps us do what we’re supposed to do while we are in that place” (pg. 3 of transcript). Leadership is influencing and moving people somewhere better. Management is keeping people and/or systems in place to continue to get desired results.
Management keeps things going, leadership pushes things forward.
Leadership involves taking people from one place to another, with the hope that the end will be better than where you started on the journey. It’s a process of helping someone. Management is more of the standstill and the doing in that moment/place/season. You’re not in a process of going somewhere when you’re managing or being managed.
Leadership takes us someplace and management helps us “do.”
Leaders inspire, empower, and teach those they lead how to make impact and be successful in their position while preparing them for the next level. Management oversees policies and procedures. They make sure everything is running according to organizational policy and procedures.
leadership is bring people from point a to point b, while management manage what to do while we are at the certain point.
Management is maintenance while leadership dreams and leads to a whole new level.
Leaders serve and managers attend
Management is making sure people do what they are suppose to do while they are in a certain place. Leadership is actually taking them to a new place.
Leadership takes us someplace. Management helps us do what we’re supposed to do while we are in that place
Leadership takes some one to a place of growth and inspiration while management is there to manage people. In other words, leaders serve their people while managers control their people.
leaders take you somewhere, managers keep things going where they are
Management makes sure people do what they need to do. Leadership lead people to better place, in order to accomplish what they do better.
Leadership is taking people somewhere they are not. Management is making sure people doing what they are supposed to be doing where they are.
Leadership takes us someplace new, management helps us do what we’re supposed to do when we are in that place. A leader is like a pioneer taking people to a new frontier, while a manager is like one who settles the new land.
Management helps us do out job. Leadership takes us somewhere. Leaders lead and do what leaders do. Managers are in an office helping us get our assignment done but not taking us to a different place.
