What is the first step in coming to Christ? How is this different than other religions? How does this go against our human nature?

We first need to recognize our unrighteousness and that only in Christ can we be seen as pure and acceptable to God!

Admitting that you are lost in your Sin and need something to save you from your Sin.
We are by nature “sinful and unclean” Gods word is truth however we believe that we are free from any laws . Our nature rebels at the thought of any surrender to the authority of God thru Jesus.

The first step to coming to Christ is accepting that you cannot self-justify your righteousness. This is different than other religions because they use their religious beliefs to justify their actions regardless of how wrong they may truly be. This first step goes against our very nature because as humans we are always looking for a means of self-justification.

Seeking repentance. There is no true repentance in other religions. We don’t want to ask for forgiveness or give over control, so giving up ones self and seeking forgiveness is against our nature

The first step in coming to Christ is to admit that we are not righteous and never will be apart from Him. This goes against human nature because we seek to defend and justify our actions to great extend. We want to be in complete control of our lives and our fate. To admit that we will never be righteous without Jesus Christ means given up total control.

The first step is acknowledging our sin ( that we are a sinner) and that we need a Savior. We cannot save ourselves. When we continue to walk in our will, our sin ( our pride) stands in the way. We need help, and there is only one way , and that is through Jesus Christ. Letting go of our pride, humbling ourselves and asking Jesus to come into our hearts and lives- then cultivating a personal relationship with Jesus. He longs to be in communion with us, and even though life is hard and there will be tragedies / disappointments all in our lives ( because of the sin that came into the world from the beginning) if we have Jesus, we know that He will guide us and help us through.

The first step is to recognize our need for a savior. Other religions are based on works that we can control. This goes against our human nature because we don’t want to relinquish control and appear weak. We don’t want to need help. But we need to recognize that we can’t do it on our own. It is impossible. Only with Christ can we be saved and made righteous.
