I would say that both Ecclesiastes and Jesus teach the blessings of living life by faith. To fear God and trust Him with your whole life, body, soul, spirit, mind, and strength. An His grace moves us to do all things through love and for love of each other. The only way to obtain true happiness in life is to plan a life dedicated to the service of God and our fellow neighbors. Faith teaches us to believe that God will works all things out according to His Holy plans.

I believe Old feeds the New that they are interwoven so refreshing to see anew that connection

I had never done a study in this book, but find the correlation between Ecclesiastes and Matthew make sense as the Word of God leads us to a relationship with Jesus, the Father and those around us (which is only done through Him). Often we are interested in pursuing God, but loving others as ourselves, not so much.

While I have heard writers making connections between the Old and the New Testaments, I have not heard someone connect Ecclesiastes and Jesus specifically this way. I agree that the ultimate conclusion the Preacher of Ecclesiastes leads us to is to fear God and obey His commands. While the Old Testament reader might relate this to the Mosaic law, we understand now through Jesus that the spirit (or principle) behind all these laws is to love God and to love our neighbour as Jesus taught (Matt 22:36-40) and as Paul (Rom 13:8-10) and James (James 2:8) reiterated.

I know that there are many connections between Jesus and the old testament because the entire Bible is about Jesus. I have seen the connections but this is the first time that I have seen the connection between Jesus and Ecclesiastes in this way.

Actually, Ecclesiastes is my favor book. I hope to gain more insight on its theme and discover the interpretation’s purpose more in depth.

Doing this study in conjunction with Today in the Word and also some YouTube videos by Alex O Conner pondering from an atheistic view about God and our purpose

Although I have read this book cursorily for devotions, this has been a little studied book. Even though my church chose this book as a cell group study series a few years back, the choice of passages to study has been sporadic and not inter-connected. Hence I still do not yet see the book as a whole. It also left one wondering whether one should read this book as a Christian, or as if one were a non-Christian. I hope to gain a more integrated understanding of this book.

I have read Eccesiastes and have understood it. I like to look at the Word of God from different perspectives like the one provided by this lesson.

When I read the book of Ecclesiastes I get the understanding that all things in our visible world is without purpose or meaning in itself. Knowing God and his will gives meaning to life and our lives we live. Life itself is meaningless and without purpose if God is not a part of the life we are living. God himself is life and brings light/illuminates our life giving it purpose and predetermined destiny.
