Have you ever wondered why ancestry and genealogy searches are so popular in America today? Many cultures have a strong sense that individual identity is rooted in the family tree. Are we returning to some sense that our ancestral roots tell us something important about who we are? To what extent is our bloodline central to our storyline?
Genesis is going to move from the cosmic and the global to the familial and the personal. Beginning with Genesis 12 and running all the way through Genesis 50, we’re going to follow the story of Abraham and his descendants, a family line that God chose to be bearers of the covenant that was destined to bless the entire world. Let’s explore what made a difference in their stories and what can make a difference for us as many as 4,000 years later.
