Read Hebrews 12:18-24.

For the author of Hebrews, the church is not only in a time of suffering and trials but also a time where the new covenant is “now.” The new reality of believers is shifted ahead into the confidence and security of fulfillments yet to come. As he contrasts Moses’ situation on Mount Sinai with that of believers on “Mount Zion,” the author reminds them that they already have a new level of intimacy and security with God that Moses never knew.

  1. As a result of this new security and intimacy, Christians can claim many things that are already realized in the new covenant, even as they look forward to the last fulfillment of history. Navigate in YouVersion and read the following passages in Hebrews. In the space below, summarize the author’s message about aspects or promises of the end times that we can claim today:
  • Hebrews 1:2
  • Hebrews 4:3
  • Hebrews 6:5
  • Hebrews 9:11
  • Hebrews 10:1
  • Hebrews 12:28
