Today there is growing interest among lay people in understanding the Bible better on its own terms. While groups like Gideons International have done a remarkable job in getting the Bible into people’s hands, a thorough grasp of the Bible’s meaning, in both its original contexts and ours today, has often been lacking. Courses like Bible Journey that take us into the weeds of biblical texts and help us develop coherent biblical theologies are becoming more common. Our many media partners are evidence of this. The Bible Project, with its animated videos and illustrated mapping of each book, is just one example. Apps like YouVersion help make the text itself more accessible, while organizations like Museum of the Bible are helping to educate lay people on the history and impact of the Bible.
