The next two books we’ll be reading together have a lot in common. Ephesians and Colossians start with theology about Christ’s cosmic authority at the beginning—a theology that includes the church as His spiritual body. There are great prayers for each community. When Paul addresses the practical side of holiness, he uses similar lists of vices and virtues and codes for social relationships.

Now some scholars have doubted that Paul wrote either of these letters. By the time we’re done, we’ll appreciate the unique contribution of each letter and the ways each reflect very Pauline concepts.
