The way I understand Dr. Welch’s approach by “earning forgiveness” is by regaining the trust that has been broken. Sometimes the expectations we set for the other person are too high and not achievable. The disappointment that comes afterwards can take some time to forgive. Especially if the other is repeatedly engaging in an offensive behaviour, it seems like they said sorry, but they’re actions are saying something completely different. This topic reminds me of the book written by Gary Chapman on the five languages of apology. It explains how others interpret apologies in relationships and is quite helpful in understanding how and if they are sorry for what they have been doing. All in all, we all need grace and we need to depend on the Saviour for the strength needed to extend it to others.

Why or why not?Yes, I feel like I can trust the modern translations of the Bible given the transmissional history of the New Testament. Just because it is modern does not mean that it is untrustworthy. It also depends on the meaning of ‘modern’. Does this specifically refer to the language and syntax that is being used? If it enables better understanding of the text without taking away or adding content and it is not misleading then it would prove beneficial for study. The paraphrase Bibles shouldn’t be considered under such category. If anything those should be study resources instead of individuals relying them as a Bible. The most ‘modern’ Bibles which are published and sold under the guise of ‘easy understanding’ oversimplify the Bible that was translated that was meant to meditated on. If it was just a novel to read then it could so easily be discarded and not held as sacred as it should.
The Bible is a precious text that is inspired and inerrant and it should be respected as so. -

What role does Christian apologetics play in discipleship and evangelism?Learning apologetics helps us understand and share the truth in a more efficient manner. It plays a role in own walk with Christ as we delve into His word so we are equipped to speak the truth in grace and love. As we accept and study the Word we grow in our faith. Fellowship provides the opportunity to disciple and be discipled.
