Finding a professional financial advisor you can trust. We generally seek recommendations from godly people we trust about pursuing a “third party” financial advisor.

I have heard teaching about counsel before, but what I find additional is the warning not to seek advice from sorcerers nor from someone who has a vested interest in a certain choice.

We should seek God and his word for advice. Other Godly counselors are helpful as well as experienced people and of course parents and those who have been through life’s challenges. Getting the facts for trustworthy sources/people will help us make good decisions.

Our own pride and stubbornness keeps us from seeking Godly advice. We don’t like to be told what we can’t have when we have already made up our minds to have it. We don’t like to hear wait much less no.

Not knowing how to apply the advice. Just not having the proper resources can become a burden as well as distraction.

Mostly pride and thinking we are wiser than we really are in the area of finances.

Biased counsel is anyone who stands to gain from our financial decision. Anyone with a slant or stake in the outcome of our decision. It can be another person or organization.

Someone who tells you what you want to hear and not what you need to hear.
