One of the main reasons that I enjoy reading the Old Testament is because it is what Jesus and his disciples refer to throughout the New Testament so in order to fully understand the New Testament you need to understand and also have knowledge of the Old Testament.

The Old Testament is foundational to our faith. The New Testament uses the Old Testament over and over again as its reference. It is more than just a list of laws and people. It is the origin of Christ himself that we will see face to face in the New TEstament.

It is the best testimony of Jesus. The fact that so many details of Jesus were written about Him hundreds of years before His birth proves that He is the Messiah.

Because Christ is found in the OT, because it was written down for our profit and learning.

A lack of knowledge doesn’t give the whole picture of God. God is more than love. He’s also holy, jealous, full of wrath, and just.

We would not be able to relate to why Jesus came to earth to save us from our sins

Without knowledge of the Old Testament it makes the knowledge of the New Testament imbalanced in the the Christian life , leaving them to not fully understand who they are , and who truly God is.

Jesus often referenced the Old Testament, and many of the prophecies from the Old Testament were fulfilled through Him. Jesus’ presence is also found in the Old Testament. Without the Old Testament, how can we understand the prequel and prologue to the New Testament? The answer is simple.
