The Old Testament is the foundation for what we as believers base our faith on. The building blocks of our faith. The Old Testament is how we learn about the characteristics of our God and what is expected of us as believers.

Because “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

The OT provides a foundation for the whole Bible, without it we can’t understand the NT. It tells us about God, about Jesus Christ. It helps us to know God in different ways. Factual, Personal and Practical. It reveals his character and his relationships with people. The OT also teaches us how to live.

It’s the foundation of our faith. It also is the foundation of how we are to conduct our lives. The laws of the OT are relevant today and are even the foundation of our legal system. it also prophesies about Yeshua/Jesus

Because we wouldn’t understand not having the whole story. We need the old and new testament as a whole.

Because it is the foundation that we need to build upon. We can’t run before we walk.

It is because the Old Testament is the foundational truth. It helps us to know God better and gives us a deeper understanding so we can grow in our faith.

You cannot understand a need for the savior if you don’t understand where sin originated. Because of sin, we have been separated so we need to know the old testament nee for Jesus.

The Old Testament tells us about the character of God, God’s relationship with people, and lays the foundation of our faith and foundation for bibilcal prophecy.
