1. It tells us about the character of God
2. We can see ourselves in the people of the OT
3. It is the foundation of the NT and for the Bible as a whole
4. It tells us about Jesus Christ on almost every page
5. The NT refers to the OT frequently.

Because the Bible in its entirety is The Word of God that all points to The Risen Savior Jesus Christ.

- To expand our knowledge of God, we learn that the God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New Testament.
- The story of redemption, that redemption begins in a garden.
- Humanity’s need for a Savior, in the OT, God’s dealings with His people show the seriousness of sin.
- It gives us an understanding of the New Testament that is built on the foundation of the Old Testament.
- We learn about the culture and history of the Bible, as the OT provides a cultural and historical background to the NT.

The Old Testament is an integral part of our faith. It shows God’s redemptive heart and process, and is constantly showing us pictures of Jesus through people, stories, and rhetoric.

We miss a clear understanding of who God is and a foundation of who Christ is and our need for a Savior
