To only read the New Testament is to never ask our father figure in our lives what was life before he had us. You miss an entire story of the, “why”, why the way he is and why does he make the decisions he does. In summary, to understand the saving sacrifice given from Jesus, we must understand the fall, the wars, the wandering wilderness, the defiance and God’s empathetic wrath.

The Old Testament is the foundation for us to know about God and its Creation. It helps us to build spiritual growth.

The Old Testament is the shadow which is fulfilled in new testament through Jesus Christ. The old testament helps us to understand and actually see Gods character his unfailing love and faithfulness for his people. I would say its the foundation of the Christian faith. It reveals the origins of humanity, sin, and God’s redemptive plan, all of which are important for comprehending the New Testament. In Old Testament God is a creator, a covenant-maker, lawgiver, deliverer, and faithful guide. The saints of old testament like Noah, Abraham, Moses, Joshua, David, and the prophets, we see how God interacted with them then and displayed both His justice and His mercy. Today same God is taking us out from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light through his son Jesus Christ. The old testament gives us strength, hope and faith to trust for our deliverance. He did it yesterday and He will do it today.

Studying the Old Testament is vital for gaining a full understanding of the Bible, God’s character, and the foundation of the Christian faith. It reveals the origins of humanity, sin, and God’s redemptive plan, all of which are essential for comprehending the New Testament. The Old Testament introduces God not only as Creator but also as a covenant-maker, lawgiver, deliverer, and faithful guide. Through the stories of people like Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, and the prophets, we see how God interacts with individuals and nations, displaying both His justice and His mercy. These narratives offer lessons in obedience, leadership, courage, failure, and faith.

The Old Testament is the foundation for the New Testament, providing the historical context, prophecies and themes that Jesus and early Christian built upon . Old Testament also provides God’s character and the birth of Jesus

Because the Old Testament sets the stage for the New Testament. The Old Testament is the why, Jesus is the who and the How.
-
Because the New Testament makes mention of things that happen in the Old Testament and if we didn’t read the Old Testament then we would know what its making reference to. It’s like starting in the middle of a book without haven’t read the beginning and trying to understand it

In my journey, there are so many believers that are confused in the New Testament. Sometimes they don’t understand because they have not taken an interest in the Old Testament. I try to encourage them to study because it does help us to understand the ministry of Jesus and we can be more effective in our journey.

A lack of knowledge of the Old Testament would weaken our understanding of the New Testament because we would have an incomplete picture of who people are, cultural understanding, prophecies, etc. The incomplete understanding minimize so much of what we need to know about God, ourselves, and our relationship to Him.
