The Old Testament is full of instruction. It introduces us to GOD in all HIS perfection, from creation to the promise to Abraham, to family disfunction and trials. IT highlights the character of GOD. Furthermore, it speaks of us, with poetry, teachers, prophets, warriors and so much more.
In short it is the foundation of our faith. It is imperative to know and understand where we came from to understand where we are going and why.

One reason we should read the old testament is so we can see the prophesies come to life in the new testament

The old testament is the fondation of the bible. It provides insight into God’s character, the human experience and the story of Jesus. It also helps us understand the new testament.

I think the biggest reason is because Jesus is there. The OT weaves Jesus into the before he came to earth, but instead shows us that Jesus is I AM and that he has been here since creation. The Old Testament also give us historical context to the way Jews lived and what they believed. It shows us God directly moving in the hearts and mind of his people.

We should study the Old Testament because that where it all started. Just like the readings mentioned, it is the foundation for the rest of the story of the Bible. It tells us what’s going to happen in the future and why and it gives us background information for the rest of the books in the New Testament, since certain passages in the New Testament make reference to things that happen in the Old Testament. For example: if you wanted to read a book series you wouldn’t start in the middle of the series. You would instead start from the beginning and work yourself up so you can understand it better.

All of the New Testament stories allude to and are built on the foundation of God working through people in the OT.
-
Because the Old Testament is the foundation for the whole Bible. It tells how the world began and shows us who God is by showing us how he related to others who walked with Him.
-
Confused on how it all begins, not knowing the ways of GOD.
