  How would you prioritize the three reasons given in this lesson for studying the Bible: “It is essential to knowing and loving God;” “It is essential for growing up in God;” and “It is essential to serving God”? What is the basis for how you prioritize them?

  I believe that “knowing God” is the very first step in my journey, because just like in a human relationship, the more we know Him, the easier it will become to love Him. It was difficult for me to say with utmost sincerity when I began my journey in Christ that I “loved” God – I just wasn’t sure I meant it. But now, the more I have come to know Him, I can truly say that with conviction. I can’t imagine my life without Him. Yet I will never want to stop knowing Him better. No surprise, but my absolute favorite book is “Knowing God”, by J.I. Packer

  God has always desired to know His creation and be known by his creation. Inside every man, woman, and child is the idea of God I believe a God-seed. When we water and nourish it in the Word. It florish, blossom and produce fruit.

Do you have other reasons than these? 1.“It is essential knowing and loving God 2. I“It is essential for growing up in God;” and 3. “It is essential to serving God”?
  All of these reasons are equally important to me.
  I want to be built up in God to share what I know to others and live the life he planned for me.

  Our church’s basic mission statement involves knowing, trusting, loving and following Jesus. I see this order as consistent with the priorities as stated for studying God’s word. For me, I especially need to become more loving, both of God and my neighbor. I also want to study in accordance with the idea in 1 Cor 8:1 (knowledge puffs up but love builds up).

  For my life, the most important reason to study for myself is to know and love God followed by growing up in God and serving God. I have come out of a cult and need to learn how to search the Scriptures myself rather than depending on someone to feed me. I have to know how to check the context of the Scriptures to be able to feed myself and recognize Scriptural errors when I see or hear them.
