The Bible as God’s story is God’s eternal Word, which nourishes the church in every generation. But the Bible also is totally contextualized. It was written in a particular language to a particular people who lived at a specific time and place. But that’s good news for us today, because it means that God values our context as well. We can be assured that our context does not inhibit our living into God’s story today. And we can embrace the entire canon of Scripture, we can discern God’s voice across the centuries, and there we find repeated refrains and convictions that guide our reading then of individual books and passages.
