Christian Learning Center › Forums › At the beginning of this program we learned: “People have many reasons for rejecting the Christian faith. Some may admire Christ but dislike His followers. Others find it difficult to accept any faith that claims to be the only way to God. Why would anyone limit themselves to only one of the world’s great religions?” How valid are each of these objections? What is your response to each?

His followers are not to be admired; they were sinners and made many mistakes. However, the bible does not mention one mistake that Jesus made. And knowing that Jesus is perfect, still loved, and taught by the disciples is another way to demonstrate His character.
Jesus is the only way to God; he is not saying a religion but the person of Christ. The prophecies in the old testament of the coming of the Messiah were fulfilled with the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is living proof that he is the son of God. -
Followers of Christ are still sinners, albeit saved sinners. There is no claim within the life of a Christian to perfection. After all, that is why we need Jesus and His sacrifice to begin with. However, I find it ironic that people who can reject the Christian faith based on the poor behavior of Christ followers can also bristle at the idea of good people of other faiths going to hell just because they do not believe in Christ. This is to hold some people to a higher standard (Christians, if their religion and relationship with God and the truth is real, then they should be better people) and others to a more relaxed standard (“good” people of other faiths do not deserve eternity in hell, even though there is no such thing as a truly “good” person).
I would consider it wise to limit to oneself to one of the world’s great religions if and when the construction of the religion lays on the shoulder of the creator of the world itself. Additionally, if that religion was constructed by Jesus, well then I would bargain that He has the best understanding of the map to not only traverse the world but also insider knowledge of the path to heaven. -
These objections are valid if and only if, the enemy has control of your heart and mind. The enemy controls the world and has led many astray but when you pray for Jesus Christ to come into your heart and read his Word the rest of the world and the lies it perpetuates begins to fade away. This is how God brought me back, I rebuked the devil from my mind and heart and I realized the love for sin that I had. Now things become clear and the Word of God and Jesus Christ our Lord speaks to my heart differently than before. Thank you, Lord, Amen.

Jesus lived a perfect and sinless life. Something that we cannot do. It’s easier to follow someone that is perfect than to follow sinners like us. Some people may think that Christians are also suppose to live a sinless and perfect life and when we don’t, it is hard for them to believe.
Saying, “I am the way, the truth , and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” does seem like a narrow path. Look at who God is, what He has done, and how He sent His Son to die for us. God is your creator, sustainer, and redeemer. Following anyone or anything other than Him is pointless.

Simply put, the followers of Christ are sinful humans. When compared to Jesus, we can see once again that His character is evidence of his deity. Difficulty in accepting that there is only one way to God is understandable for those who don’t know God or understand anything about the validity of scripture. I would start with sharing evidence that points to the historical accuracy of scripture along with many prophecies which are fulfilled in Christ. Finally, this lecture brings us to the credibility of who Jesus is. If he is indeed God, His words are true when He says that He is the only way to heaven.
