Elijah experienced disappointment in God. Elijah was disappointed because he thought God was limited. Sarah was disappointed because she truly wanted a child, she thought she would never conceive. David was left in silence in order for hime to truly think about his sins. The scripture tells us he cried out in disappointment.

Sarah – She thought God will bless her with a child but she did not expect God took so long to fulfill this promise.
David – he wanted to build a house for God then God said it would not be in his reign.
The 12 disciples – They thought He would be their new King and deliver them from the Romans.

There were many people throughout the Bible who became disappointed with God because He did not respond to them in the way that they thought that He should. A few of the more logical choices are David, Abraham, and Jonah. There are many more that I could list, but these three came to mind first.
-
1. Jonah wasn’t happy that God spared the repentant Ninevites.<div>
2. David was not happy that God struck dead the priest who touched the Ark to keep it from falling off the cart.
3. Naomi was disappointed about her fate and wanted to be called “Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.”

David wondered where God was, and why he didn’t come to his rescue. Job had great disappointment, and Moses went round and round with God while traveling through the wilderness.

Sometimes people we have helped in their trouble rejected us later when things started to work for them. Some have even left church after bailing them out of their trouble.

When you encounter drastic factors , where you say.. where where you? why did you let that happen Lord?
Things that take place and seem too much to comprehend and bear. -
Desperate, unanswered prayer. Or more precisely, not the answer I so desperately wanted.

Being mad or angry is a strong feeling. I can think of times I was disappointed that God did not do what I thought he promised. I quickly question myself, before I question God. Im not sure if Im in denial of my emotions or I just don’t allow myself to go that rout because I understand that it doesn’t make sense to be mad at God. In the outcome, he will end up being right and loving anyways as I’ve seen him do so many times.

When I have prayed for years for good to manifest in the lives of my loved ones and instead evil surfaces and impacts our lives. I have thought to myself what good has come? But quickly realize that that thought or that way of thinking is incorrect. Because much good has come from developing an intimate relationship with Him. I have been strengthened and powerfully sustained through very dark times and I have experienced His faithfulness. Therefore, though I have experienced much disappointment I know He is not to blame. Instead I have much to be grateful to Him for because He is good and true and faithful to His word and I know I can trust Him to continue to be all that He has promised to be even when life is dark.

We forget that in this world that Jesus said we would have trouble. When things don’t go OUR way, we blame God for not doing something about it.

One of the reasons people are disappointed with God is unmet expectations because of wrong expectations they set for God.

Compiled disappointments and a decrease of time with God result in a lack of joy and decrease our ability to respond to challenging situations in a God honoring way.
