Christian Learning Center Forums The lecturer states she “would contend that only a believer is able to truly love wisdom as God created us to love.” Do you agree or disagree? Explain.

By the definition of “philosophy” and the origin of the word, Yes! Emphatically so, searching the Word to Love the Wisdom only He can provide. To truly seek Knowledge and Wisdom!!! Not to glorify self with information and understanding, but to truly know, seek, love, understand and grow in the wisdom of our Savior! How cool is that?

I appreciated the link drawn between philosophy as the love of wisdom, and the fear of the Lord as the beginning of wisdom. There are plenty of things that stand in as wisdom, but true wisdom begins with knowing and revering the Lord.

Yes, I absolutely agree because God is the author of wisdom because He created all things. We live in a world and a culture that would say the exact opposite because the enemy wants to confuse us and draw us away from God. This is why it is imperative that we teach truth to our children, God’s truth so that they can recognize the lies of the world and and stand firm on their beliefs that are rooted in God’s creation, plan and purpose for their lives.

I agree. Proverbs 9:10 states that “the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.” By fearing the Lord, I view God with holy reverence and desire to honor Him in all that I do. This is one way to love the Lord, growing in wisdom and knowlege.

I agree, being believer means believing and accepting things that may not fully make sense to you and figuring out the truth behind them faithfully.

As a first year teacher in a Christian school, I hope to gain a better understanding of how to apply biblical principals in all aspects of my teaching.

From this course, I hope to learn how to teach my students a true and good education based on the Bible, in spite of living in a world that tries to teach the opposite.

I hope to gain a better understanding of how to teach the importance of God’s Word and how students can develop biblical values in our fallen world. As an educator, I hope to solidify strategies for integrating biblical values in all my courses.

Although I feel I have a strong Christian Philosophy already in place, I hope to gain more wisdom in how to refine it. I hope to have areas brought to the surface as I progress through this course that will encourage me to think more deeply, delve into the depths of what God has for me, learn more about where I am weak that He may make me stronger.

I hope to gain to an overview/review of how Christian philosophy is applied across curriculum topics to help students see the God’s creativity in everything.

We must know what we believe as foundational truth in order to build an environment and curriculum to empower our students for life. This is not just about learning facts, but about how to live life as a Christ follower.

As a Christian, our life revolves around how we can make Christ known. As an educator, we teach. A Christian philosophy of education helps us put these two things together. We are not simply educators; we are Christian educators. Our whole thinking in and purpose for teaching is to make Christ known. Our philosophy should also reflect that.

Christian educators must have a Christian philosophy of education because we are helping parents train the next generation of believers. We need to make sure we are thinking correctly so we pass down the truth to our students.

We must be alining to God's will for his children and educating them on the truths based on moral values that have been established by God. Our foundation is not based on new understandings or new insights but rather based on truths given to us by God. If we put our foundation on things other than God's truth and will it will crumble. The standard, God's word and will is paramount.
