Yes, I would agree. If fear of God is the foundation of wisdom, how can we truly love wisdom without loving the foundation of it?
-
I agree! God is the unshifting foundation – foundation for love, wisdom and knowledge. Anything else is temporary and a life built on any other foundation is false!
-
Yes. As the “fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom,” one cannot truly know wisdom without knowing God in all His fullness.
-
I agree with the lecturer. Paul sent a warning in a letter to followers of Christ in Colosse stating that “My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Col 2:2-3) He this so they may not be “deceived fine sounding arguments.” (Col 2:4) This holds true today for us as Christian educators. We must be able to discern the truth of knowledge and pass that truth on to our students, which can only be done through our relationship with God.
-
Yes, I agree with this because the bible states we are created in the image of God. God is the center of everything. God created us with a mind to reason and think. As Christians, we build our beliefs on him and the word. Therefore, we know all things come from him, including wisdom.

What do you hope to gain from this course? In what specific areas do you hope to grow as a Christian educator?

I hope to gain, more wisdom and knowledge so that as I teach I keep God at the center of my teaching. My specific area that I would like to grow in as I take this course is being able to express to parents how important it is to raise their children in God’s house.

As a teacher in the public schools for the past 28 years, I have considered myself a light in a very dark place. I have not been able to openly share the Gospel with my students. As I leave the public school system and go into a Christian teaching position, I hope to naturally combine my teaching with my faith. This is going to be a whole new world for me but I am beyond excited about the journey!

As a Christian educator, I hope that this course will serve as a refresher for me. I am often asked what the difference is between Christian education and private education. It is my hope that this course will enable me to provide a better explanation of what Christian education really is from a philosophical perspective.
-
I’m interested in reconsidering secular philosophies of education in light of the difference a Christian worldview makes. I’m hoping to grow by refining my thoughts about my own philosophy of education.
-
To be authentic and show God in my life through education.

Why is it imperative that Christian educators have a Christian philosophy of education?

Without a proper Christian philosophy of education, the education provided will only be “private” not Christian. In today’s society, it is critical that we as Christian educators know not only what we believe but also why we believe. We cannot equip or educate our students if we have not first obtained the knowledge for ourselves.
-
As Dr. Black noted, “How can I love philosophy if I don’t even acknowledge God in the whole equation of philosophy?” If one of the primary goals of an education is to cultivate wisdom in our students, then it is imperative that we begin with the understanding that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”
-
It is imperative because Christian education only exists if it is based on Christian philosophy. The Bible is the bedrock of wisdom and our belief system. We cannot instill God’s truths to students if we are not transmitting knowledge and values and truth to them.
-
Christian educators need to have a Christian philosophy of education in order to impact the students for Christ.
-
As Christian educators, the foundation that we stand on is the Gospel. Our primary goal is to lead our students to and model the good news of Christ. The good news must permeate our conversations and our teaching, which is why we must have a Christian philosophy.
