Christian Learning Center Forums The lecturer states she “would contend that only a believer is able to truly love wisdom as God created us to love.” Do you agree or disagree? Explain.

I agree with what she is saying. How can a non-believer love wisdom when they haven’t even begun the journey of finding truth? I think that non-believers can love learning and obtaining knowledge, but that is different than seeking wisdom. You cannot judge and decide with soundness if you’re basing your judgement on feelings or circumstances. One can only become wise when they recognize the authority of God’s word, and then apply that to life.

I agree. On account of general revelation and the fact that God has written his law on the hearts of all people (Rom. 2:15), all people have the capacity for some degree of wisdom. But it is also the case that, “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,” (Prov. 9:10). Therefore, the only way to be wise and love wisdom as fully as we are capable is by faith.

I agree with this statement. We have to continuously seek God through our daily walk with Christ. We gain and deepen this wisdom through continually learning.

I agree that only a believer is able to truly love the wisdom that comes from God. The wisdom of God can only come from a daily walk with God, and an openness to listen and obey.

I agree that only a believer can truly love the wisdom that comes from God and is permeated with love. There is a huge difference between the love of classical wisdom and philosophies and the love of Godly wisdom. It is this love I want to cultivate, experience and share.
