Dr. Black’s visual of a book placed between two Bibles likely illustrates the concept of intertextuality or comparative analysis in literary studies. By positioning a book in the middle of two Bibles, she could be emphasizing the idea of examining a text in relation to other texts, particularly religious or canonical works like the Bible. This visual representation suggests the importance of contextualizing and analyzing a text within the broader framework of literature and culture, exploring how it interacts with and responds to existing literary traditions and religious texts. It highlights the interconnectedness and dialogue between different works of literature, encouraging readers to consider how meanings and interpretations can be enriched through comparative study.

Everything we do and say should begin and end with God and His truths and promises that are given to us in the Bible.

This is an illustration of working the textbook into the biblical worldview, that the textbook should be centered around this biblical worldview. The biblical integration should be interwoven through the textbook work.
-
Our approach to curriculum and learning should begin and end with God’s Word.

She is basically saying that the foundation is the Bible. No matter what we are teaching we need to relate it back to the Bible.

Science, my discipline, is always growing and changing so I must too. I often look for current news or recent publications on new findings about whatever content we are learning so that I can grow and share some of what is happening with my students.

I love learning and I enjoy listening to speakers, authors, and preachers that have done their homework and that challenge me to dig deeper. Learning is exploring and I love taking my students on the adventure with me. Is that adventure going to help us grow and mature? You bet it does! My kids love my rabbit trails in course because it engages them and ties back to the subject. Helping my students make sense out of the Word and this crazy world is awesome. Rabbit trails give examples and bring the subject home to the student and they love to engage in the discussion or the activity that we use to spark the discussion. Teach like an elder, teach to get them to ask the questions and come along side of them as they find the answers.

I am currently working on my ACSI license, taking advantage of a number of PD opportunities, and trying to gain as much knowledge as possible to better teach my students next year.

In order to encourage myself to have a growth mindset, I use paper and pencil to take notes whenever I am learning something new or want to remember something. I also like to research articles, books, or videos, to improve an area that I’m weak in and implement what I’ve learned right away.

In order to encourage a growth mindset within myself, I read, chat, and listen. I enjoy reading various genres of books. Many encourage me to keep learning new things. In addition to many fun novels, I read Scripture, various devotions, and books by Christian authors. I talk with fellow believers who encourage me to keep learning. My group at church pushes me to dive deeper into Scripture to answer big questions. I also talk with my students who ask great questions during course time which often push me to dive deeper into a certain subject area. I listen to my friends who share what they are currently learning in the Scriptures, at church, and through podcasts.
