the heart of good shepherd is willingness and commitment to care for his sheep. it means he has a hearing and compassionate heart to care for his sheep. He protect them from danger and take them to where there is good pasture. In my leadership context, it means I must be willing to be a good shepherd. I must be willing to learning and seek knowledge so that I could be competent to take good care of the sheep. I must be protective to the people God put them under my care. I must be compassionate and love them all. I must be praying and teach them the gospel.

As a Bedouin shepherd you are totally committed to your sheep and put them first always in caring for them. It’s a vocation for you not a job you report to everyday. If you lose one of your sheep, you do whatever it takes to search and find that sheep, rejoicing when you find him. Your whole being is focused and concentrated on your flock and they are all equally important to you. You will do whatever it takes to provide for them, protect them, and care for them when they are sick or hurt.

To have a heart for leading others takes your total commitment to love others. Everyone has their issues which they may or may not wish to share with certain people. A Bedouin shepherd is someone who takes complete stock in the care and oversight of their flock or group. A shepherd leader does not have to be told what to do in a given situation. Their heart is in the person’s problems as if the problem was their own. The Bedouin shepherd thinks of the group they are leading as a life journey with them and not as a job to be done for the day.

A Bedouin shepherd needs to be founded in identity with an unbending commitment and a willingness of sacrifice. In leadership, the Shepherd’s heart is similar as we care for our own flocks, needing to pass on knowledge and understanding

If you to have the desire and the strength you can start now or you can begin in the morning. It is to have a heart like God’s heart and a love and compassion that moves you to shepherd or look after a community of people that God gives you to Shepherd. Also to continue to be shepherded by God yourself so you can be a caretaker of shepherds for God.
