To a literal Bedouin shepherd having a shepherd’s heart means that your world revolves around your flock. Your primary goal in life to care for and grow your herds at all costs. To the Bedouin, shepherding is more than merely a job to them it is a sacred way of life. It is a centuries old tradition and an integral part of their culture and identity. It is not merely a business but a lifelong calling. In the modern world context, if you have a shepherd’s heart, you desire to lead people in the ways of Christ. You have a special concern for people’s souls. You are Christ’s hands and feet on earth, actively participating in the work of the Lord. You want others to have a relationship with Christ and become your spiritual “flock” and so you set an example for them to follow.

To have a shepherd’s heart in the sense of a Bedouin shepherd is to be committed, to have my identity wrapped up in the flock. The heart is the center of our spiritual life. it is the fountain and seat of our thoughts, passions, desires, purposes, affections, endeavors etc. The passion of our heart drives our actions that moves us to do the will of God. A heart that is rooted in doing the will of God is a heart that will press through opposition and care for what and who God cares for. A heart that understands that Jesus died for the whole world and every soul is valuable to him.

I think for the Bedouin, having a Shepards heart means laying aside your own life and comfort for the herd. He mentioned that through the summer the man slept outside with his herd, and he is wealthy. He also stated that the children would not inherit the flock because they saw it only as a business. In the context of my heart, it is very similar. Being willing to get dirty and into uncomfortable situations, not in the dangerous sense but in the out side the zone, is where Christ calls me. No matter what company or group I am working with, leading from a place where I remind myself that money should not be the final determination for success is critical. Seeing full pews is less important than seeing hearts truly seeking God

First of all being a sheep ? I need a shepherd but before I realize Christ is my shepherd because of his name’s sake He guides me along the right paths. To be a shepherd we have to have his heart ❤️ but how? Peter wasn’t ready before Jesus on the cross he still in progress to be a shepherd to have a heart of it. But he is in the right path still learning from Jesus and finally Jesus asked him do you love me? If it yes ! Feed my sheep ? in my leadership context I will always remember being a sheep as well as a shepherd because of the ownership belongs to Jesus Christ.

Shepherd Leadership starts with leading with the soul. A shepherd leader understands that leadership is about encouraging others to develop into people God wants them to be. Also, a shepherd leader understands that others they lead will have issues. So, the shepherd leader will spend extra time with them. Next, the shepherd leader is consistent and follows through in all he/she does. Finally, the shepherd leader spends time in both prayer and meditation for the individuals they lead.
