I would describe a Good Leader as someone who leads by example and gives direction on the “How to” part of what they are asking others to do or lead them to do that.
-
A good leader is someone who takes accountability, serves their people, and is in the trenches with them wherever they are going.
A good leader is more than a title. It is someone who takes action to lead people to somewhere different than where they currently are.
-
A good leader walks before or next to someone showing them the way. This lesson expanded on that definition.
-
Now, I would describe a leader as someone who does the action. Like the video was saying, there are many different ways to lead, and it becomes circumstantial. A good leader is able to adapt and still take someone from where they to “where they ain’t”.
-
Before the lesson, I would have described a good leader as someone who is ready to solve any situation. Someone that can facilitate a group of people through something that they’ve never done before.

Leadership is leading people to something beyond where they are currently. Management is managing what’s currently going on in that season, moment, or time.
-
Leadership takes us some place different than where we are. Management helps us do what we need to do in one place.
-
Leading is showing someone the way to a pre-determined destination. Management is making sure it’s done correctly.

‘Two’ Words come to mind; when I answer the question of ‘ What is the difference between Leadership and management’. Those words are ‘Big’ vs ‘Little’ Picture. Leadership clearly is how a ‘Large’ goal is achieved;typically within Organizations;whereas ‘Management’ usually involves ‘People’ and most recently ‘things’ engaging in task completions in a ‘specific’ way.

When I answer the question of ” What is the difference between leadership and management’; I have a Tendency to ‘fall back’ to what I was ‘taught’, ‘instructed on’ as an U.S. Armed Forces Officer. In that role; Leadership looked like ‘structuring’ a ” BIG goal” towards Mission Fulfillment. I as a Health-care Professional ,e.g. was given the ‘Mission’ of the U.S. Army Medical Department of ‘To Conserve the Fighting Strength’. Management in opposition to the forgoing was ’empowering’ others; in the writers case; Lower Educated;sometimes less “Life-Experienced” individuals to ‘learn’ psycho-motor skills centered around ‘Rendering Care Services’ to others;including themselves so as to carry out the ‘Bigger ” Mission.
