Taking someone from one place to another place. Now, guiding someone from one place to a better place.

Beforehand, I would have described leadership as someone that merely drives the vehicle of an organization or group. Now, it’s more evident that leadership is far greater, looking into areas of motivation and modeling. A leader is someone that comes alongside and authentically lives out the ways in which they are striving to have reflected in there organization or group.

My Bachelor’s Degree is in Leadership and Management. I love to study and understand leadership thought and practices. I am a big advocate on Servant Leadership, simply meaning elevating and putting others first. A great leader equips and empower others to get their most potential.

I would have described a good leader as someone who is visionary, committed, and follows through. (A good representation of Christ) Now, I would describe a leader as that, but would add that they bring people along for the journey of getting better and have a servant’s mind in their leading of others (an even better representation of Christ).

A leader serves others to help them accomplish what God has for them. It is similar in that we are leading based on the situation and helping people move in their journey.

The difference between Leadership and management is their action. Leadership is leading the team from where they are to where they should be with the desire to be better than they were before. Management is about doing what needs to be done and accomplished.
-
Leadership is both managing and leading with shared sets of goals and an end result in mind. Management by itself is readying for known tasks and seeing the project through the delegation of oneself or others.
-
Leadership means taking people to another place in their development and move forward. Management is just maintaining or carrying out duties, not leading to make progress and foster growth, taking people to places that you’ve already been.
-
A leader builds up hearts and minds in order to disciple those under him/her; a manager simply gets a job done.
-
Leadership is more engaged on a personal level of service than management which is more just oversight and instruction.
