I have not been building very consciously on that, but I’m beginning to delegate certain things to others and to monitor it.

Every generation does signify a new generation of leaders. I am from generation X and I am still witnessing the power of those leaders. This system of things has gone from bad to worse in the last 35 years, but the leadership has demonstrated to be built to last. I have witnessed some great things. There has been people of courage and great wealth adding to the greatness of our great nation. I encourage the next generation to continue to take what the past has laid down as a foundation, I did it and many others as well. The most unique of all leadership improvement is that of women, taking serious risk to bring about positive change in the world. The best thing for a deteriorating system is to tear it down and rebuild it brick by brick. I welcome a greater tomorrow filled with love, hope, and harmony for all mankind.

I’m currently in training myself. I want to be able empowered people to be all they can be and watch them flourish in the leadership capacity.

By exemplifying transformational leadership in the community where God has given us grace and ability to lead. Realizing that we will not be able to do this permanently, because you may start, however, (someone else may finish what was started and taking to a certain point), it would be wise to have a transcendency plan (discussed in this lecture) for the generations that come afterwards to be able to build on and continue to pass on.

Young adults are invited to sit in church council meetings and are included in surveys to solicit their opinions about critical church issues, particularly those involving future development.

It is perhaps transparent leadership. I take care to have integrity and not fall prey to the temptation of greed or selfish motives. I hardly operate in transcendent leadership, but that is partly because the organization is very traditional and may not approve of me trying out someone for some role.

I guess in the past I worked in retail, where I was promoted to the Customer Service Representative position and that led to the lead cashier position. In this position I was the cashier’s supervisor and most of my responsibilities included transactional sales. Any sales transaction performed in the store would affect my daily responsibility. I handled purchases, exchanges, returns, sales discounts, checks, credit cards, first time paying customers, and price checks. I was great at my job. There were simple contracts (receipts) and very easy ways to create revenue. My job entailed me keeping processes moving smoothly and progressively. This type of leadership model involved a great deal of communication and interaction, so I had to maintain a certain level of competency, patience, and integrity. Furthermore, having a Christian heart helped out plenty esp. when faced with disgruntled customer attitudes and overworked subordinates.

I have never achieved the credentials to engage as a Transformational leader. This model of leadership actually involves being able to physical and mentally change people’s minds, body, and soul. This type of leadership entails a great deal of commitment. Although I do qualify for a substitute teacher’s position I do not qualify for a fulltime Transformational instructor.

I tend to flow in transactional and transformational, I’m learning that’s how I’m wired or gifted

We never operated the transformational type of leadership. It’s the one we need to apply. I need more knowledge and resources to make it happen.

I think I move between different models depending on the issues or needs at the time. Maybe transcendent is the least practiced. My church has bylaws and elections that provide a pipeline of upcoming leaders who as a current leader, has to mentor the next generations.

Well volunteer work is a way of improving your leadership skills. There are certain organizations such as, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, also Summer Lunch Programs for children, or food drives or charity marathons. If you would like to learn something new through simulations those can be bought at any video store or on online at Amazon.com. There are simulations for owning and operating small and large businesses, or running other large organizations, you may even find some for-church leadership simulations. Lastly, Our Daily Bread website has a host of courses available online to challenge your skills and abilities. Addressing issues in this manner can serve as an effective way of becoming more transparent leaders.

Most of the time, my team relies on the senior pastor and the board chairperson to make the decision and does not ask too many questions. I plan to bring more transparency to all issues and ask for feedback from everyone. I must balance getting buy-in and being aggressive in executing the right plan.
