I am still very new to leadership and have a large gap, but I am looking forward to being able to evaluate myself in a more extensive manner so I can stay with God in all my works
-
A) The Gap: I know I have the God given ability to motivate and encourage. I look for the opportunity to always uplift others and to leave people, things and situations better than I find them. As we strive for excellence and a higher standard there is no room for boredom or discouragement because we tend to reach farther as we progress in servanthood.
B) The Fit: I really ask God to search me as the 139th Psalm is a scripture that is very important to staying in line with the guidance of the Holy Spirit when attempting to lead people and complete a project. At times I desire to approach opportunities that require skills that I don’t have or that are not developed yet.
C) Feedback: I take what others say about my performance or service seriously. Of course it takes surrounding yourself with mentors and supporters that have your best interest in mind. It’s important that they are also honest with you when things are not good.
D) Parallel Contact: I am always trying to network with others outside of my immediate service environment. It is important that we expand our territory to include all Christian efforts and remember that we are all in the same body of Christ.
E) The Gut: I pray each day that the Lord tunes my ear in to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. -
Of the 5 principles: Gap, Fit, Feedback from others, Parallel context, and Gut, I have a gap that falls under the third level, Gap so large there is an echo. In simpler terms that means that there is a large distance between where I currently am and where I want to be in terms of my goals and overall character. When it comes to “Fit”, I have no idea as to where I fit in terms of my skills and overall character. I don’t have many in which I can rely on for feedback that is honest and helps me to strive to be better, but I do have at least one person who I trust in fairly well to help me grow better and do better. In regards to ” Parallel context”, I am not aware of how my peers are doing in comparison to me, as well as I am currently unaware of what can be done to better grasp the situation I am in due to the lack of social conduct between me and my peers towards our betterment and plans for the future. Finally, in regards towards my “Gut”, I often choose to ignore my gut feeling unless its a rather strong feeling. Most cases when I have followed my gut it has helped me out but then there are cases that when I do trust my gut it on causes trouble. I believe I need to get a better grasp on my gut feeling and what it is actually trying to guide me towards.
