It is important to know who inherits the Kingdom of God. Many want to know the qualifications and are afraid they will never be enough, which when you are rich and well-established in society, are the least of your worries.

It is important to understand that Jesus’ teachings are meant for all people, the Sermon on the Mount is a mandate for people in community (believers) – the church.

The right interpretation is helped by understanding who He was/is speaking to. It supports today’s students of Jesus and His Word in knowing how to apply it to their daily lives.

It was meant for follower’s of Jesus. We can’t say we didn’t know about these expectations, or that they are too lofty for us to meet. We can’t say this doesn’t apply to us.
