I learned from the teachings of Jesus that God’s Kingdom has begun to be established here on the Earth, but that there is MUCH more to come…. wonderful and marvelous blessings from God through His Son.
-
The Kingdom has already begun on earth, in the present day, for believers. It will be completed when Jesus returns.
-
There are rewards for following Jesus, current and future. current tense indicates blessings that are present even in their current, undesirable (from world view) conditions. Future tense in the second indicates reward when God’s kingdom is fully here. This was a new way to look at the beatitudes for me.
-
Well, I had always viewed the verbs as future and the new thing to me was that the verbs are dual, somethings now and total fulfillment in the future with Christ.
-
The verb tenses used in the second half of each of the beatitudes explains that the fulfillment of each beatitude is at the present time only partial. However, at Christ’s return they will be fulfilled in completion.
