How did your study of the blessings and woes found in Luke 6 further your understanding of Jesus’ Beatitudes?

I think it confirms the idea that God wants to give blessings to his children. It also confirms the idea that it is a blessing to be hated and cursed for our sincere devotion and love towards Christ.

I find we receive clarity when we read Luke 6 and Matthew 5. The spiritual implications in the terms poor, hunger, weep, and hate teach us of the heart attitude Jesus would have us to live in. The woes focus on the social acceptance the world would bring when we prefer the things in this world over the things of God. We are to love (1 Cor 13), and not just our friends and fam ily, but all of His creation.

The use of Luke 6 to provide a deeper understanding of the Beatitudes, helps me a clear view of the expectations Christ wants us to live life.

The passage from Luke seem to confirm the view that the Beatitudes are focused on believers. It is the woes in Luke that seem to confirm this viewpoint because they are the consequences of not following Christ.

Similar instructions for us Christians to follow in our daily walk with Christ, but also especially to help fellow poor Christians to experience Gods now blessings now.
