I was in bondage because of my childhood traumas. I thought I was useless, incapable, ugly, and more. I was always hiding my true self behind a funny, sociable supposed personality. The more I tried to be someone else, the more I was rejected. I turned to Christ at 16 looking for help. I managed to survive for the next 50 years, like Moses. Then at 60, Genesis 3:11a pierced my heart.

He said, ‘Who told you that you were naked?
(I heard “who told you that you were ugly? Who told you that you are not good enough? Who told you that you were useless? Certainly it wasn’t me.)

Now I am 66, and I’ve been 5 years in counseling. Now I know who I really am, my true self. The truth led me to be free from that bondage. I was like the elephant tied by a rope. But that was my flesh. My spirit started soaring high as a result from my freedom. Now I see the fruits of pouring out of me. I had never been able to produce those fruits on my own. But the Holy Spirit leads my spirit everyday. I still fall short sometimes, but I keep on pressing.

I have the freedom to live out God’s Word without fear. This freedom allows me to be my authentic self (who Christ made me to be) and to share that with others.

I am free to be become more Christ like without believing the deceitful lies from the enemy (Satan). I am free to put on the fruits of the Spirit by allowing God to mold me and shape me more into His likeness day by day.

The freedom we have as a result of Christ’s work is to keep us from wrong-doings and to recreate us as Godly creatures. I can sense that the Holy Spirit has been transforming me to be more patient and considerate. Plus, I do not feel pushed or compelled to get myself better. This indicates that the Spirit works within me and gives me a sense of freedom.

We have freedom from condemnation. Which frees me from trying to hide from my SAVIOR and instead run to HIM.
