Explain, in your own words, the freedom we have as a result of Christ’s work and how that impacts your life.

Paul says “it is for freedom that Chrsit has set us free” – That Freedom was provided through Christ’s work on The Cross and negatively is a freedom from enslavement to the world system. That Freedom pertains to both legalism & licence in that it frees us from participation in either one of them. Positively it is a freedom to live a holy & righteous life empowered by the Holy Spirit. Such a life is characterised by the fruit of The Spirit.

Through this first lesson, I am beginning to understand that I have choices. I can choose to stay in my carnal state and/ or depend on myself to do good works. I am relived to learn of a better option. I am excited to learn that forgiveness opens the door to a life of freedom. I am now free to follow Christ’s example on how to live.

The Truth shall make us free and if we live in the Truth we are free indeed. Jesus is the truth. I had to come to a place in my own walk with Christ that I know I have to die to myself every day, all day. That’s hard for me as I know it is for pretty much everyone because “we want what WE want”. The freedom is there – all the time, in every situation, but we must accept it by putting Christ on the throne of our hearts and not ourselves.
-
My take on the first lesson is we have the freedom to walk in the spirit to be in the spirit. To not be helpless.

It means that when Christ died for us, we were no longer tied to the law. You now have freedom to make decisions lead by the spirit within.

Rick Muchow came to Woodlands Church I guess about 2005 0r 2006. He talked about the fruit of the spirit. He also sang his song the fruit of the spirit. I was in a wheelchair because I had major surgery on my left femur and joint. But Rick was giving his book out and he signed mine and wrote stay close to God. He hugged me. I knew Rick from California. Not personally. Only went to one of his concerts at church. Cause I was visiting. I lived in Riverside California in 1984- 1986. Then moved to Texas. When you are healing God sends people in every area of your life that is the fruit of the spirit through Him. As long as you are totally staying close to Him. He will never fail.

Yes, I have read several books on the Holy Spirit. Learning from studying is important but it cannot replace seeing the work/change in individuals as a result of submitting to the Spirit of God. Isn’t the change the fruit? Personally I have grown in my relationship with Christ as I have been obedient and He has changed my thought process and made me more patient, caring, and understanding of others and their circumstances.

I have studied the fruit of the spirit, but not in depth. I am taking this course because I would like to grow in this area of my life. I would like to manifest the fruit of the spirit in all areas of my life.

I did not study the fruit of the Spirit prior to this course; I took this course to study the fruit of the Spirit so I may bear fruit for Jesus.
