This may be a cheap answer, but just as Stedman pointed out that looking at scripture from the atomic perspective is just as valuable as the astronomical perspecive, each of the four questions has equal value to understanding and applying scripture. One cannot properly apply scripture to his life without first understanding its context, and there is no purpose in knowing the context without applying it.

For me, contemporary application stands out the most because as Christians we are to carry out the great commission in a way that reaches people right where they are.

The question that stands out to me is the one of Historical Background. This is significant to determine the context of the passage. Learning the context brings light to the other questions.

Historical background is important to understand who the author is and what are the worldly circumstances that he lives under. This is important when studying the book of Revelation for sure.
