Here are some advice to consider when reading the Revelation, the last book of the Bible. First is to pray, second is to read thoroughly beginning from Genesis, and third is to use the bible to explain itself. Revelation 1:20 is a good example. The verse reads, “The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven golden lampstands is this: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.” The text explains that the stars are the angels and the lampstands are churches. The Bible explains itself.

I would be very positive about them wanting to learn about what God has for us, but would strongly recommend reading the book of John to become acquainted with Jesus’ words. Also, the reader would learn about who John is. This would help answer other questions they may have about origin of the book of Revelation.

I wouldn’t discourage a new Christian to not read Revelation. To read a book of the Bible for the enjoyment of reading is nice. However, to study and try to understand the book, take a course on Revelation or get a study book on Revelation (recommended by the pastor).

My advi e would be to read through it first, then reread it and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal what He want you to know and understand.

There are many views. I need to have an open mind to give them a consideration.

On page 10 of the lecture states that the 144,000 are the literal Jews. I need to read more about this. On page 9 of the lectures states that some believes that a series of 3 judgments are 21 consecutive judgments. I need to read more about this view.

I learned a little more on the pres, mids, and posts viewpoints and interpretations.

I was happy to read of the different interpretations. Preternatural,Idealist, futurist, historicist. Then the different millennial views. Each have scriptures to back them, but premillenialist, to midmillenialist, to postmillenialist. Hearing that this professor takes the post-millennial viewpoint is very surprising.
