Have you ever wanted to visit a real monastery—perhaps one in the Middle East? Well, here is your chance. We are going to Wadi El Natrun, where some of the world’s oldest monasteries are. Our host, Abuna Berti, will explain the background of the monastic life in a place that they believe hold relics of John the Baptist himself. While relics are often contested, you’ll see how John (and other biblical figures) grounded the community’s understanding of a very biblical move to the desert.
