The Bible is full of instances when history is reviewed and summarized. It highlights the importance of biblical history for people of faith. This is no less true in Luke. Take for example the story of the two disciples of Jesus on the road to Emmaus. When Jesus appears and walks with them, He interpreted the Scriptures about Himself “beginning with Moses and all the Prophets” (Luke 24:27, ESV). Presumably, He reviewed Israel’s history to show them how it all pointed to Him.
