The debate about North and South Galatian Theories is not one you’re likely to encounter often in your New Testament studies, but it’s good to be aware of it. 

The question at the center of this debate is how Paul’s epistle to the Galatians should be connected with his journeys described in Acts and to the council of Acts 15. If Galatians was written after the Jerusalem council, then it appears to be working out the ramifications of those decisions in matters not addressed at that gathering. If Galatians was written before the Jerusalem Council, then it reveals additional concerns that would have factored into the council at a later date. 

The view that Galatians was written after the council is known as the North Galatian Theory
