It turns out that Ephesus, like Corinth, reminds us of many challenges we face in the twenty first century. And Paul reminds them—and us—of the basics: of being “in Christ” . . . of being a united family . . . and a holy temple. These metaphors from daily life help ground our understanding of spiritual realities.

In the next lesson we’ll look at military metaphors to appreciate the spiritual war confronting believers.
