The kind of personal greetings we typically hear from Paul are missing in Ephesians. It’s possible that Paul just skipped greetings in this letter, but some believe this is one indication that this epistle was not really written by Paul.

Other unusual features in this letter include the absences of the term “Jews” and the verb “to justify,” both of which we’ve come to expect from the Apostle. Other words in this letter are used in ways that differ from Paul’s usage in other letters. Altogether, there is no scholarly consensus on the issue, but it has been raised frequently enough that we should take this lesson to discuss the question of Pauline authorship in a little more depth.
