I have signed up for a Greek course in a local seminary. Class has not started so this is my attempt to get ahead by studying this course, it is part of my prep.

I would just like to know some basics so that I can better understand when I hear others talk about biblical Greek or when I read an interlinear

I’m not sure “why,” I want to learn Greek. I just know that I like to try reading the Greek sentences before looking at Scripture, because it often gives an appreciation for meaning and possible meanings. In the struggle of figuring out what a Greek word means and how it works in the grammar I hope that it drives a meaning deeper into my heart. I’ve studied it on my own for a long time and give up when I can’t remember what I need to remember (learning prepositions is always the wall that I hit) then I start again later.

Just the much that can help me understand the interpretations of the Bible.

It will be part and parcel of learning to appreciate the NT in its original language and be careful in rightly dividing the Word, especially to interpret Scripture.
-
A deeper understanding of God’s Word and the ability to study it.
-
Guidance, understanding, closeness to the God who inspired the writers.
-
I appreciate those who teach the Scripture who also have a knowledge of Greek grammar. I’d like to have a functional knowledge of that grammar, so my own teaching/learning will not be closer to meaning.
-
Basic understanding of Greek Language and its use or meaning in a context or content.
