It is our direct line of communication to God; for Him to speak to us and for us to speak to Him. How can you keep a relationship going without actually communicating with one another?

It is important for us to pray so that we can keep our relationship with Jesus strong. Praying is communication and any relationship needs good communication for it to thrive. Praying also gives us a sense of peace in knowing that there is someone we can go to with our problems and give our problems to Him. We were not made to carry problems alone. Give God your problems and allow Him to give you solutions. Cast your burden on the Lord and he will sustain you. Psalm 55:22. Prayer is very important as was modeled by Jesus who often prayed to his Father in heaven. Jesus also taught his disciples how to pray by teaching them the “Our Father” .

It is important for us to pray because it keeps us in direct and constant communication with God.

A lot of people believe God is one of fire and brimstone, but Luke talks about the loving, compassion of God. Knowing that God is firm in his commandments, but also loves us and cares for us gives a fuller picture of who God is to His creation.

Given that Luke was writing to a group of people who were young in their faith and who were facing significant challenges, there is much for us to learn and use in order to strengthen our own faith. The challenges they faced, like our own, are very real and therefore something that we can certainly relate to in many ways. With that, the reminders and encouragement from Luke’s gospel should strengthen our resolve and faith.
