In this lesson, Dr. Richard Hess lays the foundation for who the God of the Old Testament really is by exploring the story of the flood in Genesis and the famine experienced by Egypt and Canaan during Joseph’s time.

- Identify the problem many have with the God of the Old Testament.
- Explain God’s purpose in sending the great flood in Genesis.
- Describe what we learn about God’s true nature from the flood.
- Explain how Joseph’s story sets the stage for what the Old Testament tells us about God’s great love for the world.
