How’s your geography? If it’s anything like mine, it could use some help. But, don’t worry. In this lesson we’ll show you a simple map of the ancient world. It forms a sort of playing board for the events we’ll read about. You’ll see how the general landscape works and what makes some places more desirable than others. We’ll also start learning about the natural imagery that runs throughout the Bible. Many of the greatest theological truths are explained in figures of speech taken from nature and agriculture.
In this lesson, we’re also going to see how the land, climate and agriculture relate to religion. Maybe that seems unexpected, but you’ll discover that this is all intimately connected to God’s challenge to trust only in him for everything our ancestors needed.
So, let’s have our first look.
